Last Judgement ||4||
Twisted Palms
Grillby took hold of Doomsday’s wrist, pushing it against his side, halting the blaster from firing. It vanished into thin air, with Sans sitting down, sighing to himself.
“...welp...” Glancing beside him, the ground was torn to shreds, the wooden fence destroyed, along with the rows of trees behind it. Grimacing, he stood back up, scratching at his cheek warily. “...maybe that’s not the best way to do things...heh...”
“...s-sorry...” The kid sunk into his hood, shoving his hands into his front pocket, unnerved.
“...right, so...” Sans mused for a minute, humming. “...shoulda thought that through more...Paps is gonna go ballistic...” Doomsday only disappeared further into his hood, biting his tongues. “...anyways...” Sans shook his head “...what d’you think we should do, kid?”
“...”
“Hey?” He didn’t reply, a wreck, staring at Sans, his eyes twitching. “Doom?”
“...I think that was enough for today.” Grillby told him, resting his hand on Doomsday’s shoulder.
“Really?”
“...you weren’t the only one who got a shock.” He nodded at the kid “Let him settle down first, we can worry about his magic overload after...”
“...alright...” Sans didn’t argue, not wanting to upset Doomsday any further. “...d’you just wanna sit on the couch and watch some TV?” Silently, he denied, not wanting to stay still. “Then, uhh...how about a walk?”
“...o...okay...” His voice cracked quietly, wandering over to Sans, visibly anxious.
“...I need to head back to my bar.” Grillby said “Call me if you need any help, okay?”
“Yeah...” Sans smiled slightly, uncomfortable, watching the flame monster leave the backyard. “...so...”
“...” Doomsday looked up at him, wary, sensing his nervousness.
“...d’you...wanna go?”
“Y-yeah...”
“...alright...” Though, it was obvious Sans didn’t necessarily want to, he led the kid out of the yard, choosing to take him through the city for a while. For the most part, Doomsday was silent, quietly walking beside and behind Sans, not saying a word.
A few times, he jumped, startled by a loud noise, his form melting slightly afterwards. Sans could only grimace, unsure about what to say to him, hearing a tire pop, windows crack, every time the kid got a fright.
Perhaps taking him through the city had not been one of his best ideas?
Sighing, he took his hand in his own, looking at him, smiling a little, trying to comfort him. Yet, his heavy breathing only caused his smile to falter, hesitating, before moving his hands underneath the kid’s own, picking him up.
“...you alright?” He asked, gently hugging him, not certain how Doomsday would react. He said nothing though, his face sinking into his shoulder, clearly unnerved.
For the rest of the walk, he carried the kid, not bothered, glad he had found something which comforted him just a bit more. When his arms grew tired, he teleported, slumping himself onto the couch, as the kid sat upright, alarmed.
“It’s fine...we’re on the couch.” Sans grinned slightly at him, watching his eyes twitch, glancing around the home, before burying his face back into Sans’s shoulder. “Heh...at least y’survived, right?”
“...mhm...” He nodded into his hood, his tendrils curling in on himself, warm. In all honesty, he could have fallen asleep there and then, yet his eyes wouldn’t close.
“...you tired...?” Sans enquired, he shook his head a little, listening to him hum. “...right...so, what d’you wanna do?” He shrugged in response, not wanting to talk. “...just...lie here? ‘Til Paps gets back? Then we can have some pasta...if you’re hungry?”
“...okay...”
